Dr
Ann McNeill
Dr
Ann McNeill is an honorary senior lecturer in
psychology at St. George's Hospital Medical School,
University of London and is an independent consultant
in public health. Her current work covers tobacco
policy and research and her particular interests
include the development of dependence on smoking,
nicotine and product regulatory issues, and smoking
cessation (she co-authored the English national
smoking cessation guidelines).
Dr McNeill is also a senior editor of the BMJ
International Journal, Tobacco Control, and a
member of the Tobacco Advisory Group of the Royal
College of Physicians and the Society for Research
on Nicotine and Tobacco.
She is a former chair of the WHO Scientific Advisory
Committee on tobacco product regulation and the
WHO Partnership Project to reduce tobacco dependence.
Dr McNeill has published many articles and reports
and co-authored a book on tobacco control. Her
doctoral thesis was on 'The Development of
Dependence in Adolescent Smokers'.
