Michelle
Scollo
Michelle
Scollo is Co- Director of the VicHealth Centre
for Tobacco Control. She has worked in tobacco
control at state, national and international levels
since 1988. A former director of Quit Victoria,
Michelle played a key role in establishing co-operative
national arrangements for resource production
and service provision in Quit campaigns in various
states and territories.
As a consultant to the Australian Cancer Society
and National Heart Foundation between 1996 and
2001, Michelle worked on major policy initiatives
in taxation reform, tobacco product regulation,
clean air policies and comprehensive approaches
to tobacco control. At VCTC she is now coordinating
further research and advocacy in support of the
tobacco control agenda outlined in VCTC's key
document: Tobacco Control: A Blue Chip Investment
in Public Health.
She is a member of the tobacco advisory groups
of the Cancer Council Victoria, the National Heart
Foundation and The Cancer Council Australia. She
also provides consultancy advice to ASH Australia.
Michelle has been a key note speaker at several
international tobacco control conferences, and
assisted with media support to the International
6th Tobacco or Health Conference in Perth in 1990.
Michelle led the process of vision development
for tobacco control in Australia which was a key
feature of the first national tobacco control
conference in Adelaide in 2001.
