Professor
Alistair Woodward
Professor Alistair Woodward is Professor of Public
Health at the Wellington School of Medicine, University
of Otago, New Zealand. He trained in medicine
at Adelaide University, undertook postgraduate
training in the United Kingdom, and returned to
Australia to an academic career in public health.
His involvement in tobacco control includes a
period as chair of ASH South Australia, chairing
the NH&MRC working party on passive smoking
and health in the 1990s, and a trustee of the
Smoke Free Coalition of New Zealand. His research
in the tobacco field has centred on exposure to
second hand smoke and the consequent health risks.
